Eureka Springs, population 2,000, is an Ozark Mountains resort town with a European feel. The city became a premiere relaxation resort in the late 19th century when people visited the area seeking restorative water from the "Great Healing Spring." A large musical, artistic and writing community adds an eclectic feel to the city.

Fort Smith is a river city of 82,000 with a historical heart. Established in the 1800s, Fort Smith served as a U.S. Army frontier fort playing key roles in westward expansion, Wild West justice, the Civil War and The Trail of Tears. This historic past takes front stage at museums, festivals and events in Fort Smith. Fort Smith is an excellent starting point for Ozarks and Arkansas River Valley trips. The Ozark Plateau, commonly known as the Ozark Mountains, is an area of rolling hills accentuated by rugged slopes and divided by deep valleys, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. This forested region stretches from northern Arkansas into central Missouri and eastern Kansas and Oklahoma.
