Historic Salem was the center of an 18th-century Moravian settlement, a people from what is now the Czech Republic. Life in this town during the 1700s and 1800s is recreated in part through the efforts of period-costumed workers enacting scenes from everyday Salem, from pottery and paper-cutting to tavern and school. Also included in the price of admission is entry into Salem's other main attractions, the Museum of Early Southern Decorative Arts and the Gardens of Salem, the latter the household gardens of former residents.
