From the mysterious disappearance of Roanoke settlers to the Wright brothers' first flight, the Outer Banks are historically important yes, but they are also postcard pretty with enough beach to share between summer visitors.
Long before it was a major source for home furnishings, High Point was just a rural community, and it's these early roots that are the subject of exhibits at the High Point Museum. From Native American settlers to factory life, the museum's permanent collection is designed to show through interactive display spaces the changes that have taken place in this North Carolina region. The area adjacent to the High Point Museum is a historical park which in its scope includes High Point's oldest home, the Haley House, as well as a Blacksmith shop and herb garden.
