North Carolina's oldest history museum, the Cape Fear Museum of History and Science, continues to educate with its expansive collection of photographs, documents, artifacts and other objects related to the history and culture of the Lower Cape Fear region as it has done for the last century . In addition to the museum's permanent holdings there is also gallery space dedicated to changing and interactive exhibits like the "Michael Jordan Discovery Gallery" and "OCEAN: Explore, Discover" which foster learning about the sciences through hands on activity.
